Frequently asked questions
Everything you need to know before you come aboard. Can't find your answer? Message us on WhatsApp.
Do I need any sailing experience?
None at all. Our professional skipper takes care of everything and adapts the trip to the group. Just come ready to enjoy the sea.
What does the price include?
For the sailing experience: a professional skipper, homemade tapas (Spanish omelette, ham, cheese and olives), cold drinks and snorkelling gear. For the sailing initiation: a fully private session with personalised instruction.
What if the weather is bad or too windy?
Tarifa is famous for its wind and safety always comes first. If the weather turns bad, we notify you in advance and try to reschedule. If that is not possible, you receive a full refund.
When do you sail? What's the best time of year?
We sail year-round. The best time is from April to September: long days, pleasant water and the sea at its finest. Peak summer is the most popular, so for July and August we recommend booking ahead. As Tarifa is famous for its wind, every trip always depends on the sea conditions and safety comes first; if the weather doesn't cooperate, we reschedule or refund you.
Can I cancel my booking?
Yes, cancellation is free up to 48 hours before departure.
Can children come along?
Absolutely! There is no minimum age. Children must always be accompanied by an adult, and life jackets are available on board for everyone.
Where are you and how do I get there?
We set off from the port of Tarifa (Pantalán 1). Many of our guests are staying along the Costa de la Luz and come for the day: we're about 45 minutes from Zahara de los Atunes and Barbate, and around an hour from Vejer and Conil de la Frontera. Tarifa is easy to reach via the N-340/A-7, with parking near the port.
Where is the meeting point?
At Pontoon 1, berth 17 of the Puerto Deportivo de Tarifa. We recommend arriving 15 minutes before departure.
What should I bring?
Swimwear, a towel, sunscreen and a light jacket (even in summer, the Tarifa breeze can be refreshing). And bring your camera: the views of the Strait of Gibraltar are well worth it.
How many people fit on board?
Groups of up to 9 people. You can book the sailing experience from 1 person (solo or small bookings may be moved to a departure that already has other guests, so you always sail in a group). The sailing initiation is private, for 1 to 3 people.
What languages do you offer?
Spanish, English and French on all trips.
How and when do I pay?
No online payment is required when you send your booking request. We confirm availability by WhatsApp or email, and you pay on the day of departure by cash, Bizum or card.
Do you do private charters or events?
Yes, we do: birthdays, proposals, hen/stag dos or corporate outings. Get in touch and we will tailor something just for you.
What if I get seasick?
We sail close to the coast and anchoring conditions are very calm. If you're prone to seasickness: keep your eyes on the horizon, eat lightly before boarding and let the skipper know. He will adjust the route if needed.
Is it safe if I cannot swim?
Yes. We carry approved life jackets for all passengers on board and always sail within sheltered, near-shore waters. Snorkelling is entirely optional, and you can enjoy the whole trip without entering the water at any point.
Is the boat insured?
Yes. The YEMAYA carries full third-party liability insurance and passenger accident cover, as required by Spanish recreational craft regulations.
Can I bring my own food or drinks?
Of course. You are welcome to bring whatever you like on board. The sailing experience already includes homemade tapas and cold drinks, so you would only need to bring extras if you have specific preferences. Please let us know in advance if you have any food allergies or dietary requirements.
How do I confirm my booking?
Once you submit your request, Fernando will contact you by WhatsApp or email (usually right away) to confirm availability and share all the details of your trip. Your place is secured with that confirmation; payment is made on the day of departure.
